This morning Fernando came over and woke me up with a new card. It said "The Surprise Date 5-24-08; ?"
He told me I should start getting ready and that it was hot outside and should dress appropriately. I was cranky and tired but got up and got dressed anyway. I had no idea there would be a date this weekend. So I get all cleaned up and we get in the car and end up at Turtle Creek again. It was a picnic! He gave me 3 beautiful pink roses and had some delicious snacks and wine picked out complete with fancy picnic baskets and a blanket. It was so romantic and wonderful. We had French cheese and bread, pasta salad, potato salad, fresh fruit... so amazing. He told me he picked this spot for the picnic because it's where my parents had their first apartment when they got married. We had a fountain view and it was beautiful. We were still eating and he asked me if I was ready for dessert. I'm always ready for dessert so I said sure. He had more red velvet cupcakes from Society Bakery and hidden in the cupcake box was a ring box! TODAY WAS THE DAY!!!! I opened the box and he proposed and put the most beautiful ring ever on my left ring finger.
WE'RE ENGAGED!!!!
I cannot stop smiling/crying. I called my mom first and she had known since Thursday when Fernando called to get her blessing. I then called my best friend, Rachel and more family members who do not answer their phones!! Fernando even told all our friends and planned a celebration for tonight. And our good friend Adam Little and his girl friend Rachel snuck up on us to take some candid first engaged photos. It was so perfect. I have never been so happy. I can't wait to send out the pictures and start planning! And we still have more dates planned!!
