Again, birthday does not also mean engagement. It's been a good day so far and there's still a lot to do. After coming home from church, I slammed my finger in the car door, so that was not a good start (see the band-aid in the photo).
Our date today was at 1pm. Fernando had a few ideas for lunch. One of our favorite brunch places, Amuse, no longer serves brunch, so his backup plan was La Cubanita, a Cuban-inspired trendy spot on McKinney Avenue. The food does not compare to Abuelita's cooking, but the idea was to fit with the engagement theme and that I am about to be part of a Cuban family. While a very sweet idea, I ruined it --- as we were driving I was guessing and thought we might be going to Bread Winners. We spent my birthday 2 years ago there for a work lunch just 4 months before we were officially together. They serve one of my absolute favorites -- Eggs Benedict. We both decided that sounded better than sub-par Cuban food and headed that way. It was delicious.
We had red velvet cupcakes from Society Bakery, another favorite, for my birthday dessert. Yum, yum. Our Wedding cake will come from this bakery for sure.
Tonight we're going to Radiohead with some friends and might do another dinner tomorrow night. The birthday extended weekend continues.
25, my last year as a bachelorette... Next date is 5-31.
